It was a lot of work, but it was so much fun. The room was decorated beautifully. The colors were black and white with touchs of red. We had mini lemon tarts, cucumber sandwiches, and fruit and vegetables. To drink we had water and lemonade. I was put in charge of the food somehow and spent the day of the prom cooking up a storm. It turned out surprisingly well though.
The girls draped fabric and lights all around the room and set up a background to take pictures. One brother really helped us out. He got us black fabric table toppers, two champagne fountains for the drinks, had a huge flower arrangement made for the food table, loaned us and installed the faux ceiling you can see in the pictures, loaned us a fountain to put in the room (a real water fountain, it was so elegant) and got us about 75 carnations so everyone would have a boutonniere or corsage! The Beehives and Mia Maids provided babysitting, and a girl in our ward took all the pictures. We encouraged people to come in formal dress. It was really neat to see how excited some of the people in our ward were. A DJ in our ward donated his services so we could have some good tunes.
We had a few couples tell us some of their romantic stories and people requested and dedicated songs to each other. Quin was on a bike ride with his friends, but he called up the DJ and dedicated a song to me. It was really sweet! We had a treat table set up with candies that were white, black, and red so when people left they could scoop up what they wanted and put it in a bag to take home.
It was sooooo much work and we couldn't have done it with out a lot of help from some awesome people. People kept saying that it was the best night they had ever had at a church activity and that it was nicer than a lot of weddings they had been to. Everyone was talking about it at church on Sunday. I am so glad that it turned out well. We keep getting asked it we are going to do it again next year. Well... we'll see.

Your prom idea is so great. Everyone looks like they are having a great time. I think this is something all Young Women groups should do. You are a great inspiration for these girls, Nat.
Love, Mom
What a cute idea. I bet everyone loved it.
Way fun! And your ward looks so great to come and support it. They'll miss you guys for sure.
Mom: maybe you should spearhead the prom committee in your ward!
Deidra: Thanks it was so much fun.
Elena: We are so sad to leave, we really love the young men and women. I guess we just have to see what adventures are awaiting us!
I usually check your blog everyday. But miss a day or two, and I miss everything. Looks like you did a super job. Too bad Quin couldn't be there to enjoy it with you.
