Umm...What?

One of the things I have had to get used to being married is sleeping with someone else next to me. Quin is particularly interesting. Just like a little kid, he doesn't want to go to bed, he is afraid he will miss something. Once he does go to bed, he is asleep before his head hits the pillow. Even if he tries to stay awake so we can talk he falls asleep mid conversation. This usually results in some interesting conversations because his dreams get intertwined in the conversation. He has even gotten mad at me for some thing I have "said" during one of these sleep/conversations.

The other night Quin and I were watching 7 pounds with Will Smith. In the movie Will Smith starts fixing a machine for another character. Unbeknownst to me Quin had fallen asleep. Our conversation went like this:

Me: oh yeah, he went to MIT to be an engineer so he can probably fix that for her.
Quin: Yeah and he is Jewish and naked.
Me: What?!?!
As far as I knew the movie hadn't mentioned that he was Jewish and he definitely was not naked.
I then realize that Quin had fallen asleep. One can only wonder what he was dreaming!

A big weekend

Quin, Cameron, and I traveled North this year for Thanksgiving. I hate being so far away because it means that we have to spend two days of our holiday traveling instead of spending them relaxing with our families. It's worth it, we love being with our families. This trip was extra special though, there were lots of big events and firsts for Cameron.

~It was his first car ride. We weren't sure how well he would travel especially for so long, but he did great, he slept most of the way there.

~It was his first Thanksgiving, except his came a few hours after everyone else ate and was a little milky.

~He met many new family members: cousins, aunts, uncles. Lots of new people to look at. When his cousin Kate saw him she said "It so pretty" then she realized her mistake because he was a boy and corrected herself, "It so handsome." Ha! We're not sure who was more excited to see him, there was some serious talk about about who was going to keep him, but in the end we won.

~He was given a name and a blessing(for my non-LDS friends that is kinda like a christening). My mom made a super cute little blessing outfit and since we were so far from our own ward, we held it at Quin's parent's house. We would have loved to have lots of friends and family there, but it was really neat and sacred to have such an intimate setting.

~He got his first haircut. We have probably heard "look at that hair" a few hundred times. Cameron came out needing a haircut. I wasn't quite ready for my baby to get his first haircut (I think I was like 3 before I had one and I did it myself), but I wanted his Aunt Mimi to cut it instead of some stranger, so we did it while we were up there. She cut probably an inch off the sides and back and trimmed up the top. She did a good job, he looks like a little boy now instead of a little baby. I miss his crazy baby hair, looking at pictures makes me a little sad.

We were so sad to leave, but we had a great and memorable weekend!

We've Learned to Smile

Cameron is now nearing the 6 week mark (Tues is the official day), and has made some pretty big advances. He still won't rake the leaves when asked, but he has learned to smile.

One of the rare moments of Natalie holding Cameron with her top on!

4 Weeks Have Passed

Well it is amazing at how fast our little boy is growing up. Here are a few highlights from the passed four weeks.

Just Chillin'

We got to go Trick-or-Treating as the Flintstones.

Andy, Amanda, and Evelyn helped us complete the look.

Cameron and his mom (notice how he seems to be eyeing the food).

This is his cousin Evelyn. She was crazy about him! She wanted to feed him one night, and kept asking, "Can I feed the baby cousin?" I looked at her and said, "You need boobies to feed the baby." She fired right back with, "I have boobies.", and she proceeded to show us that she could feed her baby doll. It was hilarious!

Hanging out with Grampy

Grammy and Grampy

Grandma and Grandpa

I love how Cameron's eyes are crossed in this picture.

Evelyn took good care of him. In this picture she is making sure that he wasn't lonely. She put her baby dolls next to him and took extra care to make sure everyone had a blanky. Then she would point at each one and say, "Baby doll. Baby cousin. Baby doll. Baby doll. Baby doll. Baby cousin. Baby cousin. Baby doll. Baby doll.", over and over.

She really did try very hard to make sure he was ok and was happy.

I have been trying to take a picture once everyday to put into a time lapse video. These are just a few of the pictures that show how much he has already changed.

Halloween. He was Bam Bam.

His poor little face is broken out right now with baby acne.

Welcome to the World!!!

He is finally here!!! Cameron D. Smith made his grand debut on Oct 13, 2009, at 7:45 pm. He weighed in at 8 lb 4.5 oz and was 21 inches long. He has a head FULL of hair (as you can see from the pictures), which won over many of the nurses.

The bellow the night of the 12th

Before drugs.

After drugs. "Just say yeessss"

Here are the Newborn Intensive Care guys cleaning his lungs of any Meconium poisoning. The hoses made his sinuses swell up and he was having a hard time breathing so we stayed in the hospital an extra night just to be safe.

Meeting Mom for the first time.

He looks just like his Dad

Absolute cuteness!!!
First family photo.

No I am not choking him. Every time I burp him he falls asleep with his chin resting in my hand. It is so cute the way he just goes completely limp.

Cameron has fun hair to style. He almost needs a haircut.

The following pictures are Quin's baby pictures. Quite an uncanny resemblance.

9 lb 7 oz and 23 inches long (also 4 days late). Just a bit meatier than Cameron.

Those are some rocking chops. When will the hair styles of the 70's make their triumphant return?
